Stella Serafina John

Stella John has been studying law at Goethe University Frankfurt since the winter semester of 2024/2025 and is currently in her fifth semester. She graduated from Paul-Gerhardt-Schule in Hanau in 2024, receiving the Karl-von-Frisch Prize for her achievements. Stella completed her Intermediate Examination (Zwischenprüfung) in her second semester and submitted her Advanced Exercises (Fortgeschrittenenübungen) in her fourth semester. She is a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation and e-fellows.net as well as a member of the clavisto talent program.

From April 2025 to February 2026, Stella worked as a research assistant at the Center for Critical Computational Studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Burchard, focusing on the intersection of artificial intelligence and law. In February 2026, Stella gained her first practical experience at Gleiss Lutz in the Real Estate and M&A practice group. She will build on this experience through an internship at Norton Rose Fulbright in the Banking and Finance practice group in autumn 2026. Since June 2026, she has been working as a research assistant at Flick Gocke Schaumburg in the areas of International Tax Law and Real Estate Tax Law, gaining valuable experience of legal practice in an international context and developing her professional English skills. Starting in October 2026, Stella will additionally join the team at Prof. Dr. Broemel’s Chair of Public Law, Economic and Monetary Law, Financial Market Regulation, Law of Digitalization and Legal Theory.

After participating in the 34th Willem C. Vis Moot Court, Stella will complete an internship at the German Federal Bank (Deutsche Bundesbank) in the areas of banking supervision, financial stability and central bank law. She subsequently plans to spend a semester abroad in Japan.

In her free time, she enjoys riding her motorcycle, horseback riding and playing a good game of chess over a glass of wine.

Stella is especially looking forward to the 34th Willem C. Vis Moot as it combines challenging legal problems with intercultural exchange and offers the opportunity to make inspiring connections with students and professionals from around the world.
